• Penny Dreadful, the term, derived from cheap popular serial literature produced during the nineteenth century in the United Kingdom that sold for a penny each.
  • The books were quite popular due to their lurid, sensational subject matter. The stories were often adventure tales, focusing on detectives, famous criminals, or superhuman beings.
  • Partially the name being used in XV Episode 3 is due to the combination of superhuman beings and the never ending conflict of good and evil in one episode.
