Lyrics[]
Note: Unlike most other group songs, Apple does not come with a guide to who sings what lines in its lyric booklet. The following color-coding has been done by ear based on the song audio, and may not be completely accurate.
Maria • Serena
Ringo wa ukanda osora ni…
Ringo wa okkochita jibeta ni…
Hoshi ga umarete uta ga umarete
Ruru ameru wa waratta tokoshie to
Hoshi ga kisushite uta ga nemutte
Kaeru toko wa doko deshō…?
Kaeru toko wa doko deshō…?
Ringo wa okkochita jibeta ni…
Ringo wa ukanda osora ni…
The apple floated in the great sky…
The apple fell down to the earth…
Stars were born, songs were born
And the Lulu Amelu smiled for all eternity
The stars kiss the songs to sleep
Where will they return home to…?
Where will they return home to…?
The apple fell down to the earth…
The apple floated in the great sky…

Trivia[]
- "Apple" is a song that was taught to Maria and Serena by their grandmother. It is a nursery rhyme that has been passed down for generations in their hometown,[1] and is the only remaining heirloom of Maria's ancestors after they fled their homeland due to an accident at a power plant station[2] — presumably the disaster at Chernobyl.
- The song lyrics mention the Lulu Amelu, which is the name of the prehistoric human civilization created and ruled by the Custodians.
- The activation melody played by the Vambrace of Shem-Ha is a heavily distorted version of Apple.[3]
- This song has four remixed BGM available on the XV soundtrack found within the second Blu-ray/DVD volume.
- The first is a music-box rendition titled Kuchidzuke ni Nemuru Hoshi no Uta (Apple) (口づけに眠る星の歌 (Apple)? "The Song of Stars That Sleep When Kissed (Apple)").
- The second is titled Lingua Franca (Apple) (リングァ・フランカ (Apple) Ringua Furanka (Apple)?).[Notes 1]
- The third is titled ANALYSIS COMPLETE, though it erroneously refers to Kimi Dake ni as the remixed track instead of Apple.
- The fourth is titled at the End of Time (Apple).
- Despite being a song sung in-character, "Apple" is not actually considered to be a "character song" by the series' merchandise, as evidenced by its exclusion from the complete character song box album, and its listing in the soundtrack discs instead of the character song disc in the G Blu-ray box.
